Although they all exist in the same universe, they appear in different timelines. G1 establishes the core series and G2 expands on it. Q: What are pact-pairings? A: In the DuoKin universe it is a commonplace ritual to form a pact with another person. These partnerships are unrelated to marriage, although spouses may form a pact if they wish; pacts are a formal agreement to become and remain battle comrades for life. Pact-pairings are often made by family members, lifelong friends, spouses, close business-partners, etc. Now and then there are individuals who chose not to form a legal pact, in which case they are not looked at favorably (since they are seen as uncommitted and not worthy of trust) which puts them at a disadvantage of not having access to several facilities, services and products. With evident corruption and danger present in the Duokin universe, pact-pairings are highly encouraged as a safeguard and for extra protection. Members of pact-pairings each receive a custom medallion to signify their formal bonding and pact-pairings have access to more facilities and resources as a token of appreciation for their commitment. Forming a pact is a very serious decision and process, thus cannot be decided upon at whim. Comrades who wish to form a pact must do so legally, with a formal contact and an extensive interview process. Generally people may only be legally allowed to form two pacts in a lifetime. Usually a person's first pact is with a family member and they have the option of keeping that pact or reapplying with another partner. In cases where a pact-partner perishes in the line of combat or passes away due to another cause, their remaining/living partner has the option to form another pact at their discretion (in this case affected individuals are allowed up to three legal pacts in a lifetime). Not being part of a "DuoKin" makes life more difficult and some would say unfulfilling. However, due to the strict limitations of how many pact-pairings a person can have in a lifetime, some individuals hold out for a long time in order to find their ideal combat comrade. Q: What can we submit into the non pact-pairing folder? A: Non pact-pairings are any two characters, from the DuoKin universe, who interact with each other but are not formally pact-pairs. Artwork of these interactions and non-formal pacts must be submitted to this folder. Q: Why are there many major characters? A: The characters listed are central party-members in the designated generation's storyline. Keep in mind that major characters are not necessarily protagonists or narrators (e.g. Taro & Olivia are the protagonists in G1). Q: Will there only be female characters? A: No, DuoKin will not just have female characters. (e.g. G1's main cast consists of four females and four males). The creator wishes for the designs to develop naturally and not be forced-out by demand. Due to this chosen process, there are currently no designs that can be shown publicly for the male cast.
